LERU publishes a new position paper: What are universities for? | | Thursday 18.09.2008 | LERU has released a new position paper today warning of the dangers of "loose thinking" about the role of the universities in present-day society. | The paper, by Geoffrey Boulton (Vice principal and Regius Professor of Geology and Mineralogy at Edinburgh University) and Colin Lucas (Warden of Rhodes House and former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University) calls for a reinforced understanding of the fundamental role of the university.
